Fun with FLOAM!

Today we experimented with floam! Floam is a very interesting substance made of glitter, small styrofoam balls, colouring and adhesive. The children loved the unique texture of the floam, and it made it a very appealing medium to use.
We used the floam to create letters, numbers and shapes. This hands-on activity was a great way to practice our letters, numbers and sounds! We practiced making our names and phonetic environmental words with the substance. At the end of the lesson, some of us got creative and made beards, eyebrows and noses. We had SO much fun with the floam, we will definitely be using it again soon!

On child sounded out the word "pen" and created it with floam.

The children used different techniques to make their letters and numbers unique. This one stood up on its own!

She said if she's going to have a beard, it's going to be pink!

So much fun!

Practicing the "teens" and putting them in order.

What great team work!
