Exploring Bubbles

Miss Cassi created some wonderful activities for the children to take part in this week! She noticed the children exploring bubbles during free time,  and so she based her lesson on bubbles. How fun!

First, the children created some stunning artwork using coloured bubbles and blank canvases. Miss Cassi added a few drops of food colouring to the bubbles and then the fun began! The children engaged in some very interesting discussions during this activity. One child noted that he was creating new colours when two bubbles of different colours popped together.

Miss Cassi said that she "wanted the kids to experience bubbles in a different way where they could see what happens when they pop and have fun at the same time!"

Miss Cassi's lesson was based on these ELECT specifics:
Domain: Social Domain
Root Skill: Parallel Play
Specific Indicator: Playing in proximity of peers with similar play things without an exchange of ideas or things.

Then, Miss Cassi introduced bubble wrap into her lesson. The children were SO excited! She said that she "noticed that during snack & lunch time, the children would step on the food on the floor or splash their hands in their water-listening to the sounds it made. Also, they had a great time popping the bubbles that Miss. Leslie was blowing during free time. So, I decided to bring in bubble wrap so the children could pop it like the pop the bubbles and also, be able to hear the sounds it would make. We talked about different ways we could pop the bubble wrap. For some of the children, trying to pop it with their hands was too hard so when I asked them how else we could pop the wrap, they began walking on it-and they LOVED it!"
