Pirates!

One of our wonderful families generously donated a bunch of long paper tubes! This generated a lot of creative ideas from our children and they anxiously awaited building time.
Thank you to Rags to Riches Upholstery in Amherstburg for thinking of us! We absolutely love building with these giant fabric rolls.

The children decided to build a fort. In order to integrate language into this lesson, we decided to create a list of materials needed.

We had SO much fun!

Then, the children decided to build a pirate ship.  We asked, "How will people know it is a pirate ship and not just a regular ship?'. One child suggested making a sign.

Our very considerate pirates decided they should also create a "be careful" sign, as pirates can be dangerous!

We extended the activity by drawing diagrams of the ship and the pirates.
